Available for my next role

I build things.

For the last couple of years that has meant putting AI to work inside a company that makes physical things: utility-scale solar trackers. Twenty-five years in, I am less interested in writing the code than in what gets built with it.

German by origin, now in Boulder, Colorado, after a long detour: Barcelona, five countries lived in, a few years with no fixed address, and a stretch in Cyprus. Remote-first by habit rather than by policy.

I care most about the work when it touches energy, mobility or the outdoors. Solar has been a good place to spend four years.

What I have been doing

the last few years, short version
AI in production

Agentic workflows inside a solar manufacturer

At Nevados, most recently as Director of AI and Platform. Agent-driven testing and automated review in the engineering pipeline, agent configurations version-controlled like any other infrastructure, and research and sales workflows wired into the tools Supply Chain, Sales and Operations already used. Several-hour processes became ten-minute ones.

The interesting part was never the model. It was adoption, which means sitting with a team and learning which spreadsheet they actually open on a Monday. I also wrote the company's first AI policy and the enablement that made the rest survive without me in the room.

Platform

Data from thousands of solar trackers

Before the AI work, I architected the operations platform behind the All-Terrain Solar Tracker: a Node.js backend with a GraphQL API over time-series and relational data, aggregating a whole deployed fleet into one dashboard.

Plus quoting and estimation tooling for complex projects in Python, MATLAB and Node.js, and a batch pipeline on Cloud Run Jobs that replaced work previously done by hand.

Zentered

A small studio, still open for work

I have run Zentered as a distributed software studio since 2017. Simplicity, performance and sustainability, with client work for Volition, Boatim and smallstep delivered through it.

It is still the right vehicle for a fixed-scope AI pilot, an architecture review, or a few months embedded with a team that needs the first version to work.

Zentered Studios

A product spin-off, building Roadbook

Zentered Studios LLC is the product side of the studio, spun out to build Roadbook: an EV road-trip planner for people who plan around chargers, parks and trailheads rather than gas stations.

Every place a user searches runs through a durable multi-step AI pipeline that reconciles sources, writes summaries and structured facts, and attributes images. It is where the green energy interest and the agentic work meet, on my own time.

Things I actually care about

Not a mission statement. Just where my attention goes when nobody is paying me to point it somewhere else.

Four years in solar happened on purpose. If the next thing sits in green energy, electric mobility, the electric outdoors or somewhere hardware-adjacent, all the better.

  • 01
Renewable energySolar, storage, grid software. I have spent four years on trackers and would happily spend more.
  • 02
Electric vehiclesI drive one, I plan trips around chargers, and I think most of the software around them is still bad.
  • 03
Zero waste and repairKeeping things longer, buying less, fixing what breaks. Slower and cheaper than the alternative.
  • 04
Being outsideWhich is most of why Colorado. Trails, mountains, and an office in the trunk when it suits.
